What a Ship

What a Ship

Last week my family and I were privileged to be able to take a weeklong cruise on Royal Caribbean’s newest and world’s largest cruise ship (as of this writing), the Star of the Seas. This was our first time on such a new and large ship, just 5 months old, 7500 passengers and nearly 3,000 crew. We have neighbors that were on the ship twice In two months and recommended it. All I can say is Wow!

Besides the enormous size, which helped with a very smooth ride, the ship is just a beautifully designed place to spend a week on. From the lavish pools to the auditoriums with live shows, a Central Park area with all live plants outside, to the very good food choices (if anyone knows me, I am very critical of food). Perhaps the best bread on any ship I have been on. Rolls that were fresh and tasty in many varieties each day. Even the buffets were decent and not overly crowded.

We stopped in Cocoa Cay (Royals private island that has become a main water park attraction, not for us anymore), with some nice beaches too, Cozumel Mexico, Roatan Honduras, and Costa Maya where we took an excursion to see some Mayan ruins (amazing). There was always something to do or just relax in a quiet area. We had booked an Infinity balcony room where the main window goes down hallway turning part of the room into a balcony. When closed, you have extra space inside, well worth the little extra from a standard balcony cabin (we enjoy balcony space as you can really relax and watch the ocean in a quiet place).

So, I can highly recommend this ship that home ports at Port Canaveral, just 10 minutes from our house. If you do decide to give it a try, let me know and we can meet up before or after your cruise.
