All we can be is ourself. At home, business, networking, with friends, family, etc. It is when we are truly present and authentic can we connect with ourselves and the people in our lives.
As blogged last week, Saturday was my birthday and it was a very very nice day.   Thank you all for your happy birthday wishes through blog comments, emails, texts, cards, phone calls  and Facebook messages!
I just had the flu. I haven’t had the flu in years. Actually, the last time I had the flu was the year before I started taking a flu shot. Yes, I admit there were years back then when I guess I thought I was invincible. And then the flu smacked me in the forehead, and I haven’t made that decision again. Seriously, I remember that my partners pretty much tied me down to make me take the shot the following year.
We are living in an era of influencers. Apparently, Kim Kardashian gets paid an extraordinary amount of money for having her picture taken with a product. I have noticed that other celebrities will do the same on Instagram. They will post either a picture or a video using a certain product and, clearly, endorse the same. I guess it’s the social media version of a commercial.
Last weekend we celebrated 34. The actual anniversary fell one week ago today; I noted it in last week’s blog (‘Cause it matters). We chose to officially celebrate on the eve before. Interestingly, we chose the “events” based on an unplanned interruption several weeks earlier.
So a very good friend couldn't tell me the truth the other day. He was not courageous and did not handle himself well. I totally empathize with him and understand his business decisions. However, the way it was told to me (through other people) actually hurt more and left me wondering...   Do you tell the truth to your friends or do you avoid it using the excuse that you are protecting their feelings.
