This blog arrives as part of a commentary posted in this space mid-summer. Of course then a second surgery (first was left hip replacement) was not necessarily anticipated but that need became apparent during a November post-operation follow-up with my extraordinary surgeon, Dr Gwo-Chin Lee. I was advised early this year was open but we scheduled the surgery around the availability of our daughter Marisa, who is Assistant Director of American Jewish Committee’s New York Office.

So last Thursday became the date.  Much easier since I knew the drill but still tried to resolve o lot of matters in the days leading up to this main event.

The right hip replacement surgery went ahead smoothly and I actually did a NYC Central Labor Council Zoom on my iPhone from the recovery room.  Ahead of that Zoom I played Jump for Joy by Kingfish.later I plated my Doin Fine playlist.

When I received my room assignment let’s judge say I am not sure this correspondent can get a better number and what it corresponds to.

Probably missing some names but special thank yous to the staff ah Hospital for Special Surgery including Chito, Tabby, Christina, Greg, Tsering, Erisa, Dr. Sammons, Danielle, Jed, Kelly, Ashley and Margo from spiritual care.

Thanks also the HSS Lifestyle Medicine Group including Dr. Prather, Karen Griffey, Kate Cohen and Ruth Greenfield.
