[Fredslist] New Attorney CLE Category and Requirement for 2018

For all our NY Attorney Gothamites, effective January 1, 2018 there is 
a New CLE Category - Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias 
defined as follows:

"Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias courses, programs and 
activities

must relate to the practice of law and may include, among other things, 
implicit and explicit

bias, equal access to justice, serving a diverse population, diversity 
and inclusion initiatives

in the legal profession, and sensitivity to cultural and other 
differences when interacting with

members of the public, judges, jurors, litigants, attorneys and court 
personnel. [effective

January 1, 2018]."

Experienced attorneys due to re-register on or after July 1, 2018 must 
meet the new CLE requirement that of the minimum 24 credit hours of CLE, 
at least one (1) credit hour shall be in diversity, inclusion and 
elimination of bias.  At least four (4) credit hours must still be in 
ethics and professionalism.
