Queens Botanical Garden Hosts "After the Holidays" E-Waste Recycling Event
Beginning January 1, 2015, New York City Department of Sanitation regulations went into effect banning the disposal of electronics in the regular trash. What to do? Come to the Annual "After the Holidays" Electronic Waste (e-waste) event at Queens Botanical Garden held in partnership with The Lower East Side Ecology Center. All residents, nonprofits and small businesses of Queens are invited to bring their unwanted or broken electronics, to dispose of them safely and free of charge. Tangles of broken holiday lights, computers, fax machines, cell phones, tablets, e-readers, televisions, cameras, stereo equipment - all are welcome. 2015 Northeast Regional Pride Conference (NERP)
Queens Pride will host the 2015 Northeast Regional Pride Conference (NERP). The conference gathers LGBTQ Pride organizers from throughout the northeast U.S. as well as groups from the Midwest and the Southeast. We expect between 100 and 150 attendees, representing between 25 and 30 pride organizations. The purpose of the conference is to share information and best practices in organizing LGBTQ pride events, to explore new or emerging LGBTQ issues, and to show off our host city and the aspects that make Queens Pride unique.
