Dear Gotham Tribe,

I wanted to make you aware of an event I will be taking part in on March 1st, feel free to circulate this to others you think may have an interest.  You can direct any questions to me at this email address.

Thanks to a good friend of mine, college buddy and fellow teammate, Marc Brunengraber (I am trying to get him to attend our next Gotham meeting), I will be given the honor to play with the Israeli Men's National Ice Hockey team for a special fund raising exhibition game against MIT in Boston on March 1st.

The proceeds from this event will be used to help the great sport of hockey to survive - and grow - in Israel, where there are just two hockey rinks and the sport survives on a shoestring budget.

One of the projects Israeli hockey is involved with is the Canada-Israel Hockey School in Metula, in the far north on the border with Lebanon. There, Canadian and Israeli coaches teach children - Jewish, Arab Muslim, Arab Christian and Arab Druze children - the game. They learn it and play it together. They learn to see each other as people as opposed to foes. They learn to be teammates and work together. Is this little project going to change the world? No. But it's a start.

If anyone wants to see me take part in this event against a college team with kids half my age, come to MIT on March 1st! Tickets are only $10 and Team Israel splits the gate revenue. There will be jerseys, hats and shirts available for purchase at the game as well. Your donations can be anonymous or recognized as you see fit.

Team Israel will be coached by Stanley Cup winning ex-Montreal Canadian coach Jean Perron, and will have legendary NHL off season trainer Dusan Kralik as a player-coach.
