the problem may not be the name with the banks, in the way you are thinking
She probably can not get "smartkid.com" or something similar because she
needs to get a "doing business as" certificate from the county clerk's
office where she will be doing business.
If the county clerk, or, if she incorporates of LLCs, the State of New York
clears the name, the bank has to take it.

She has a fictitious name and she has to prove she owns it.
