Yesterday was my wife's birthday. She likes "touring" and the Josh Zinder-led tour seemed just the right kind to thing to arrange for Shelly. Josh prepared an excellent presentation as we observed and enjoyed with a group of fellow Gothamites and some "stragglers" and hanger-ons who found us along the way. The High-Line staff told us they expected 40,000 visitors yesterday. Well less than 1/2 of 1% got treated to the insights and knowledge that Josh shared with us. It was also night to meet the "hidden" spouse of another Gothamites and other members of our tribe I only met previously via email.
It is a must visit location; I enjoyed taking in the designs of the paths, the benches, the bird condos (pic below).
Thank you to Marc Halpert for coordinating everyone's participation.
A special Thank you to Josh Zinder for giving up his Sunday morning, for the preparation and the presentation and sharing his wealth of information.
Many of us enjoyed cookies brought along by Jill Haimson
Shelly and I also enjoyed the company of Riva and Alan Schwartz drinking in and back.
While other posted some cut pics, some select ones from what I took from my iPhone appear after my email signature.
The success of this event certainly demonstrates that Gotham should seize similar opportunities to check out other nice places whether by foot or other means (there were some discussions of various bike tour which just means connecting to some existing "tour".
