[Fredslist] A question

And yes - bring on the criminal charges. IN this state, a person who
knowingly engages in reckless behavior that results in another's death is
guilty of manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide. The executives
knew of the risks of proceeding with substandard safety devices and they, in
any event, proceeded to drill in the reckless manner they did. They gambled
and lost. And it's time they paid up. Enough lives have been destroyed.

Roger,

I like to agree with you that BP should survive this self inflicted tragedy,
if there is no other reason than to be able to clean up their mess and help
the people whom they hurt. With that said I also like to see the people
responsible to be charged in criminal court. That should include BP
officials, managers, subcontractors and government officials.

There was a lengthy article in the NY Times
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/21/us/21blowout.html?th
<http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/21/us/21blowout.html?th&emc=th> &emc=th
this morning regarding facts and details. Perhaps you should all take the
time to read it.

The article suggest that safety devices are not keeping up with deep water
drilling. It seems like a good opportunity for a small business to take the
lead to develop better devices.

I also would like to know what happened to the presidential promise of clean
renewable energy.

To put my two cents in the original question: we all buying gas, we have no
choice in the matter. Gas stations buy gas from suppliers of all kinds. Even
if we skip BP stations we can unknowingly end up buying their product. Just
a fact of life.

It is critical to all of us that BP stay financially viable and healthy. To

the extent BP cannot pay for the clean-up and reparations, it is a sure bet

that the rest of us will be paying for it in the form of higher taxes as the

government will be stepping in to 'finish the job'. It is in our collective

best interest to have BP strong and viable. Boycotting the stations is NOT

a good idea.

Boycotting BP stations hurts small business owners and lessees who

struggle daily - BP couldn't give a damn - Boycott the politicians who

are not moving on this manner - almost all of them are guilty.

Boycotting BP stations is a dumb idea.
