Communications Associate
 
A top New York social services agency seeks a full-timecommunications associate to further its efforts to raise visibility for theagency and its programs and services as well as support fundraising andadvocacy initiatives.  The Communications Associate will report directlyto the Chief of Staff and work closely with the CEO and Director of ExternalAffairs.   
 
Desired experience: 2-4 years
 
 
Responsibilities and Percentages of Time:
 
Press and Media Relations - 50%
 
 
Provide media relations     and outreach support for agency programs, projects and special events 
 
Take photos and transcribe     quotes during events to post on website and write newsletter articles and     post-event press releases
     Write, edit and disseminate press releases, statements and other     media-focused materials
 
Monitor news cycle as well     as editorial calendars, and vigorously promote agency experts, research     and material across media; This includes: 1) Pitching radio, television     and print media about long-lead stories and 2) Developing materials     for/engage in rapid response activities for breaking news events. 
 
Oversee press contact     database 
 
Track press placements and     provide regular reports on media coverage and impact

 
 
Writing/Publication - 25%
 
 
Write stories for the     print newsletter, occasional articles for print media and general copy for     flyers, brochures and other marketing materials 
 
Assist with editing     documents as needed 
 
Draft op-eds and letters     to the editor in conjunction with CEO and Chief of Staff addressing issues     of the day

 
 
Online Communication - 25%
 
 
Write website homepage     stories and articles for web pages
 
Write the bi-monthly     e-newsletter and copy for fundraising and advocacy emails 
 
Track site     statistics/click-throughs and open rates for the website and e-blasts 
 
Work with website team to     continually increase capacity of and interest in the website and to grow     housefile and email marketing efficacy 
 
General website and     e-marketing maintenance 
 
On-going updates to     Twitter and Facebook (in coordination with website team)
 
Track trends in resources     and online strategies through web-based news and through professional     development events and activities
