Accounting Management Solutions is seeking a senior consultant to meet
an immediate client need:

 

*	The client is a close end fund that is looking at the options of
using open end funds instead 

 

*	They are looking for someone with broad market experience with
open ended funds at the CFO level 

 

*	There are approximately 10 funds with 8 of them being real
estate funds - it would be nice if the person had real estate fund
experience but it is not necessary 

 

*	The individual should know rebalancing, and net asset values at
a minimum! 

 

*	Project length is currently 12 weeks 

 

*	Project location is Manhattan and one week deep dive in another
city 

 

 

Position Summary:

Provide controller or CFO-level financial and accounting services to our
clients in the financial services, non profit and for profit sector.
Assignments are hands on and can include budgeting, monthly closing
processes, managing relationships with outside tax accountants and
auditors, etc., in accordance with client engagement letter and AMS
operating standards.

 

CFO engagement responsibilities may also include staff supervision,
meeting management, interfacing with Board members, and preparing,
presenting financial reports at Board meetings.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Client Delivery

 

*	Undertake the delivery of services as outlined in the engagement
letter (i.e. preparing and maintaining journal entries, month end close,
general ledger, bank reconciliations, financial statement and payroll,
etc). Understand how the work being undertaken fits into the entire
engagement.
*	Ensure work being undertaken directly or under your supervision
is completed accurately and on a timely basis.
*	Communicate and coordinate work with the relevant members of the
client's staff.
*	 Communicate and contribute to client reporting and internal
status updates, as appropriate.
*	Identify business improvement solutions where appropriate and
bring to the attention of Engagement Manager and Director.
*	Record all time worked on engagement in AMS time watch system. 

 

Additional Responsibilities as CFO:

 

*	Prepare and lead meetings and interface with client and
colleagues to ensure the job responsibilities are met. 
*	Review work of project team members; provide direction, coaching
and mentoring to project team members; conduct internal consultant
training as needed. 
*	Undertake the supervision of consultants delivering discrete
areas of an engagement as assigned by the engagement manager. 
*	Facilitate client workshops and training as requested and
appropriate.
*	Maintain effective relationship with client at various levels
helping to drive continuous business and referrals. 

 

 

Engagement Team Communication

 

*	Communicate and work effectively with engagement team and keep
project information up to date. Provide input to Engagement Manager or
Director on internal project reporting.
*	Report and discuss any client business engagement
problems/issues, and discuss potential solutions with appropriate
Engagement Manager or Director. Drive communication and implementation
of appropriate resolutions. 
*	Ensure application of HR policies and programs and applicable
laws or legislation. Bring to attention of Engagement Manager and/or
Director, HR, any potential or actual complaints and litigious issues to
at the earliest opportunity without any delay. 
*	Ensure that time estimates for areas of responsibility remain
appropriate; and work with engagement manager to quantify any variations
required and with practice director and engagement manager to agree
scope and cost changes with client. 
*	Ensure accurate and timely compliance with AMS knowledge
management and administrative reporting requirements. 
*	Complete self evaluation and professional development process.

application of financial processes; solid non-profit and/or for-profit
financial reporting, budget management, accounting and operations
experience; Adept at problem solving and solution development.

requirements, ensuring all deliverables are met within client and AMS
requirements as to cost, schedule and quality. 
*	Leadership:  Successful at assessing and influencing other's for
desired outcomes.  Able to resolve problems and make timely decisions.
Skilled at meeting management.
*	Effective Communicator:  Strong verbal and written communication
skills showing judgment and maturity. Able to communicate AMS value
proposition and market position.

*	Relationship Builder:  Ability to develop and maintain client
relationships at all levels.  Supports 'team environment' with Sr.
Management, engagement teams and administrative staff.
*	Job Content:  Keep technical skills and certifications up to
date as market and business needs dictate.

Work Environment:

Consulting office environment; sitting, use of hands to fingers, close
and distance vision.  

 

Education and Experience

Ten years of accounting experience, including five years at the
controller level.  Experience with Quick books, Peachtree, Great Plains,
Blackbaud, and Excel a plus

Subject matter expert on fund accounting. 

 

BS/BA in Accounting/Finance. CPA or MBA a plus.
