As you read about the concern for air quality at the Olympics consider
the following:

 

Four years ago, on a business trip to Bejing, we checked into a new
hotel with a great city view. Our room was on the 5th floor.

We drew back the drapes to discover that our view  seemed to be behind
a pale yellow tint.  We wondered how the windows, in this new hotel, had
gone bad so quickly.

 

Our question was answered as a rain shower cleared the pollution. When
then rain stopped it was back again. 

 

Can't imagine competing in that environment however, as a tourist
location it is a MUST SEE.
