I am writing you today on behalf of my good friend, Matt Sapolin, New  
York's Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office for People with  
Disabilities, to invite you to participate in Disability Mentoring Day  
2008 (DMD) on
Wednesday, October 15th.

As you may already know, DMD gives people with varying degrees of  
disability an opportunity to get a "foot in the door" in the  
workplace; evaluate personal goals; target career skills for  
improvement; explore career paths; and develop lasting mentor  
relationships. In fact, nearly 100 prospective mentees have already  
signed up for 2008. Many are college students who have expressed  
interest in the following areas:
   - Clerical/Customer Service;
   - Communications (Writer, Event Planning, Public Affairs);
   - Custodial/Maintenance;
   - Finance (accounting, taxation, budget, auditing);
   - Human Resources (Staffing, Diversity, Management);
   - IT (Database, Networking, Bioinformatics, Helpdesk);
   - Marketing/Advertisement; and more.
In the next few weeks we expect many more mentees to sign up, which is  
why I am writing you today.
Businesses and organizations are needed to host a mentee or a small  
group of mentees on Wednesday, October 15th. Your participation as a  
mentor will make a big difference in their lives. If you can help,  
please take a few minutes and fill out the online application today.
