General Description

This position is primarily responsible for marketing, advertising, brand
awareness, and public relations as well as identifying key marketing
partnerships, outlets and competitive strategies.  The Chief Marketing
Officer will plan, direct and direct the design, production and
implementation of all advertising, marketing and public relations
activities; develop and implement strategic alliances and partnerships,
represent and speak on behalf of the organization in interviews, public
forums and press conferences; and direct the response to all inquiries from
outside the organization and serve as the liaison between the organization
and all media.  

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

Occupation Specific Tasks: 

·         Develop and maintain the Company’s marketing strategy and updates
one, three, and five-year plans, for submission to and approval of Board of
Managers consistent with long-range profitability goals

o        Brand management strategy

o        Organizational marketing structure

·         Develop and manage the Company’s Brands.

o        Develop overall corporate brand strategy.

o        Pitch high impact marketing programs.

o        Provide strategic brand direction internally and externally to
manage the Company’s corporate brands in an integrated manner.

o        Manage primary markets to better understand consumer behavior and
segments, key drivers, and potential positioning options. 

o        Develop, plan, and execute major corporate branding and marketing
campaigns.

o        Oversee all facets of corporate branding related print, broadcast
and outdoor advertising, collateral, direct mail, website, internet, and
promotional and event campaigns.

o        Work with Chief Executive, senior officers and Directors in
identifying and packaging the Company’s marketable assets. 

o        Design and produce of all corporate marketing, public relations and
advertising materials. 

o        Oversee the development of all of the Company’s web sites, search
engine optimization, content development and related activities.

o        Oversee the ongoing development of the Company’s Loyalty Rewards
program.

o        Oversee the development and implementation of the Company’s
Employer Brand.

o        Work with the Chief Executive to coordinate all investor
communications and reporting.

o        Develop and implement marketing campaigns and programs.

o        Conduct market research Coordinate market research 

o        Oversee the Company’s public relations initiatives including press
releases, customer newsletters, advertising, marketing materials and
publications and online marketing.

o        Oversee the development and plan the Company’s marketing
infrastructure.

o        Direct P & L responsibility for directing the preparation and
implementation of all marketing budgets, marketing departments and cost
centers. 

o        Analyze marketing operations to evaluate performance of a company
and its staff in meeting objectives, and to determine areas of potential
cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change. 

o        Establish departmental responsibilities, and coordinate functions
among departments and sites. 

o        Implement corrective action plans to solve organizational or
departmental problems. 

o        Appoint department heads or managers, and assign or delegate
responsibilities to them within the Marketing Department. 

o        Hire and train staff directly reporting to you.

o        Direct and coordinate activities of businesses or departments
concerned with production, pricing, sales, and/or distribution of products. 

o        Select and manage production vendors.

o        Create an institutional and system-wide marketing reporting
function that can track, measure, and analyze performance.

§         Take the lead role in developing marketing partnerships for the
organization, subsidiaries and its departments. 

§         Establish metrics for key marketing deliverables. Make metrics as
measurable and customer-specific as possible, even in awareness activities.
For example, don't just track the number of press mentions--track mentions
in the publications high-value customers read most. 

§         Measure and track customer value. Customers are key company
assets, so quantify lifetime value and the likely yield of key initiatives
to gain company mindshare and expose revenue at risk. 

§         Focus on metrics that tie marketing deliverables to customer
acquisition, retention, and other tangible increases in company value. Move
away from tracking internal goals, such as number of clicks and cost per
click, to externally focused metrics, such as the number of sales, new
high-value customers, and customer retention / repeat sales. 

§         Use customer surveys, focus groups, and acquisition and retention
patterns as critical measurement tools for overall customer health. 

§         Prepare regular reports using the Company’s database analytics,
consumer trends, product trends and industry information.

o        Ensure all marketing communications are coordinated

o        Organize and approve promotional campaigns and events promotions

·         Keep abreast with and maintain organization’s compliance with all
public statutes, laws, and policies related to intellectual property,
copyright, and trademarks. 

·         In conjunction with Chief Executive and Legal Counsel, direct all
advocacy and legislative activities on behalf of the Company. 

·         Direct responses to requests for specific information from
investors, media, the public at large, external agencies. 

·         Respond to requests for specific information from external
agencies. 

·         Keep abreast of all public policies, consumer issues and statutes
relating to our industry and the Company’s business. 

*	Attend and participate in peer meetings, industry councils and
council committees.  Deliver speeches, write articles, and present
information at meetings or conventions in order to promote services,
exchange ideas, and accomplish objectives.

Education / Experience Level

The successful candidate will be a creative, energetic marketing and
branding expert with high business acumen. Products and services will be
sold through retail channels as well as strategic vendor partnerships. 10
years consumer brand management experience with proven track record of
results; at least 5 of these years will have been in brand management
leadership roles and will have included responsibility for strategic
planning, delivery of marketing services, management of traditional and
non-traditional advertising media and experience launching new &
ground-breaking offerings. 

Must have an in-depth understanding of brand architecture and brand
management disciplines. In-depth understanding of consumer behavior,
consumer level advertising and creative services process (TV, print,
production, media), market research, and forecasting. Online branding
experience preferred, as well as a working knowledge of direct marketing. 

Track record of thriving in fast paced & cross-functional business
environments, and of over-delivering against stretch targets. Experience
with sales and marketing budgets, P&L, and forecasting required. Excellent
analytical skills, with great attention to detail. Able to work effectively
across functions, with minimal direction (self-starter). 

Outstanding verbal and written skills, with the ability to present data and
conclusions in an organized, concise manner at all levels throughout
company.

Must be comfortable within a high-paced, competitive environment. Strong
business person who thinks about issues from a business perspective; brings
strong business & financial acumen to the role and uses this to complement
his/her functional depth

·   Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations or Communications. 

• Three years experience in Public Relations. 

• Three years experience working with non-profit organizations. 

• Knowledge of or significant experience in marketing. 

• Team player with ability to multi-task. 

• High level of computer literacy with spreadsheets, word processing,
publishing and database software. 

• Experience designing and implementing short and long term strategic
marketing and/or public relations plans 

• Portfolio evidencing successful marketing and public relations campaigns. 

• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. 

• Working knowledge of Latino history, community and education issues, 

• Demonstrated skills in assessing agency communication at large and small
institutions or corporations. 

• Record of carrying out successful public relations and marketing
campaigns. 

• Excellent interpersonal, writing, speaking, coordinating and
organizational skills. 

• Familiarity with mainstream and Latino media
