Subject: [Fredslist] OP ED---The Essence of Time
Gotham:
Dear Gotham:
Although my usual posts are of an op ed nature, I wanted to share a
poem I recently wrote about the preciousness of time. Perhaps as a
Jew it was borne in a moment of reflection during the Jewish High Holy
days this week, as a reminder of how much we miss when we forget to
appreciate the wonder of each phase of our lives. Thanks for allowing
me to share this with all of you!
SCOTT STUART
Endless in its beginnings,
Priceless when it is not.
Grasped somewhere in the middle---
Yet deferred, ignored, and sometimes suddenly stopped.
We want so much so soon,
And soon so much has passed.
Looking over the horizon---
Realizing forever does not last.
Why we care so little,
When a pause counts the most.
Why we care so much---
After time has run its course.
Priceless forever,
Though often realized too late.
The hourglass frozen---
An understanding of an unstoppable fate.
And perhaps we reach that moment,
When what we have missed we truly come to love.
Endlessness defined----
A life has run its course.
