Hello along the network,

Last week, 1010 WINS account executive Mikka Gay, who has been a guest of Fred's
at Gotham, extended an invitation to the latest edition of The Bank of New York/1010
WINS Newsmakers Networking Series. The event took place last night at Club 101,
101 Park Avenue. The featured speaker for the evening was Donny Deutsch,
influential advertising executive and host of "The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch" on
CNBC.

Also attending the event from Gotham were Barbara Schwartz (Diversity Group) and
the Gotham renowned Renato Tichauer (Bandit Group).

There was a very lively discussion in which Deutsch spoke about elements of business
success, saying that business owners need to develop themselves as personal brands,
as well as develop their businesses as brands. He said that entrepreneurs need to think
innovatively and need to go for "the big idea," without being afraid to fail.

"If you fail, so what? You're no worse off if you [try and] fail than if you don't do
anything at all," Deutsch maintained. "If you fail 20 percent, 30 percent, 40 percent
of the time, so what? If fail 51 percent of the time, then you have to worry," joked
Deutsch. But, otherwise, entrepreneurs need to think big and go for big ideas in
business. Said Deutsch, "I don't know of any big business that wants to be small."

The discussion turned to politics when Deutsch, in a rather matter of fact manner,
announced his intentions to run for Mayor of New York City in the next election. He
said, as Mayor, he would seek to meld the "street savvy" of Rudy Giuliani with the
business savvy of Mike Bloomberg. He also said he intended to run an up-front and
honest campaign, saying that he would reveal all the indiscretions of his youth right at
the beginning, rather than have the press dig up the information in a tawdry manner.

"We have all done stuff at twenty that we wouldn't even think of doing today,"
Deutsch said.

His top priorities as Mayor, said Deutsch, would be to do whatever it takes to
keep New York City safe in the post-9/11 atmosphere of terrorism and to provide
for the proper education of the city's children.

Deutsch also offered his opinion on the next Presidential election, saying that he is
a Hillary Clinton fan. But he does not think she is electable.

"The next President is going to have to be a warrior. I don't think people see
Hillary in that light. I don't think the electorate, in general, is willing to accept a woman
in the role of warrior yet," remarked Deutsch.

During the audience question and answer section of the evening, I had the opportunity
to relate my experience appearing on "The Apprentice" and to ask Deutsch about his.
(He has participated in several of the candidate tasks used on the show.) I wondered
if he felt there was real, valuable business advice and application that could be gleaned
from watching the show.

"Yes," Deutsch responded. "It's hard to keep things fresh and it's not the nuts and bolts
of business. But if you listen to what Donald [Trump] says, he gives some really good
business advice during the show."

Thanks very much to Mikka Gay at 1010 WINS for extending the invitation to last
night's engaging event and to Fred for relaying the invitation to Gotham.
