Gothamites,
I have recently been asked to chair the location committee for a charity
foundation that means a lot to me, and my first task is to find an
appropriate location for our annual gala in the spring of '06. My hope is
that the group can come through with some good suggestions and contacts, and
I hope to be able to bring business to the group for related services. All
donations to the foundation are 100% tax deductible, and I can work with a
venue owner to get them the tax benefit and still show them rental income
from the event.

For the Friends of Peter Alderman (FOPA) event, we are looking for a
private, exciting/hip venue for young professionals mostly in their 20's,
and 30's with the following:

1. Saturday night in mid-March/April 2006
2. Anticipated guests 250-400
3.  Enough Floor Space for a bucket raffle (50 items on rectangular tables);
a casino/gaming area to hold black jack, craps, Texas holdem tables, and an
area to designate as a bank; DJ (definite) and dance floor (possibly, not
definite)
4. Easy to access by cab (i.e. we don't want guests to have to walk far to
get to the entrance)
5. Enough rest rooms to accommodate a group of this size.

Food and Bev. will include Hearty hors d'oeuvres/finger desserts and full
bar.

The foundation is named for Peter Alderman, a friend of mine since 1st grade
who died Sept 11th while attending a meeting at the WTC. His family and
friends from High School and College started this worthy cause a number of
years ago, and this past spring was the first annual gala, which was a
mock-casino night at the South Street Seaport. Here is the foundation's
site:

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions,
