Company description
Nuravine is an environmental automation company serving the indoor farming and cultivation market. We develop sensor and actuation devices to monitor and maintain indoor environments while collecting data and optimizing for energy and yield targets.

Our technology enables indoor farming to be a more efficient process. Through the adoption of our systems many streams of environmental data are collected and used to optimize feeding algorithms enabling the creation of better growth conditions for many species of plants.

Indoor growing has many potentially positive environmental impacts such as reduction of water and pesticide use, faster crop growth, and increased availability of fresh produce. By using our technology farmers are able to increase the efficiency of their hydroponic systems and reduce their operating costs making their businesses more viable.

Our first product is the Elixir, a hydroponics water monitor that collects pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and temperature data. This system is designed to integrate with pumps that are capable of maintaining water conditions using corrective additives and nutrients. This and many other devices to come, connects to our cloud platform, which collects and visualizes environmental data for optimization and monitoring.

Description
Alex Babich is the CEO and co-founder of Nuravine, an environmental automation company. He started the business in 2017 with Adrian Logan at The Zahn Innovation Center, an incubator at The City College of New York. Early on, he realized the need for innovation in nutrient monitoring and dosing for hydroponics systems - leading his team to develop the first version of their Elixir platform. A drive to understand his customers lead Alex to undertake the National Science Foundation I-CORPS program. Through the I-CORPS, he and his team spoke with hundreds of customers and visited a dozen indoor farming facilities nationwide to get a first hand look at the challenges farmers face.
He is a Computer Engineer with the dream of building sustainable cities that grow their own food instead of having it shipped over long distances. Previously, he developed technology that helped translate sign language in a computer vision research lab, and worked to efficiently manage power systems through data analysis at Consolidated Edison.
