The Freckled Strawberry, She can, She Will
Posted By : Carly Bentley

I’ve been an anomaly my entire life. Smart, sassy, creative and bad-a$$y. My secret weapon? I've been living with this unique crown of red locks that often brought about teasing words as a youngster. In college I realized this crown of glory is what made me different. Embracing my difference, I boldly walked into the male dominant field of finance,

Dressing The Part
Posted By : Carly Bentley

Dinner conversation expanded beyond my fabulous cooking and onto social graces. My husband and I were discussing manners, where they were invented, and what “dressing for the occasion” really meant. Coco Chanel said it best “it’s always best to be a little under dressed.” Presentation is important. It demonstrates respect for yourself and for the

June Jubilee
Posted By : Carly Bentley

This month is full of jubilee. If you’re working to make strides in life and business, try focusing purely on relationships for the month of June. Everyone I’ve been in touch with this month, just wants laughter, hugs and new memories. Employers, if you’re looking for productivity, you’ll find it in the fall, only with more charm and delight. If yo

Family

Recently, I attended my (97 years young) Grammy’s memorial service in Illinois. COVID had us waiting to be together as a family, but finally we were able to be together to celebrate her life. Grandma Grace and her beloved had 8 children. Those eight, became 41. With spouses, 75 people rolled in to celebrate her life. It was sad to lose granny. She

Another Shift-Juno
Posted By : Carly Bentley

Yet another shift in our evolving society with the sunsetting pandemic. Recently, I've had numerous conversations with professional colleagues about business and the state of affairs. Consistantly reported, is this zeal for face to face encounters. With the resurgence of in-person meetings, most are redefining productivity. The 'new normal" is in d

The Trip
Posted By : Carly Bentley

Every year, the lady crew heads out for a golf trip down the shore. We select a few courses we don’t play often and set up a scramble, or a shamble. Usually teams with the highest index and the lowest are mixed together, along with the oldest and the youngest. It makes for a great time, good conversation, and learning new approach shots. With COVI

In A Moment
Posted By : Carly Bentley

This is a sober reminder to appreciate your loved ones always, because you never know what tomorrow will bring. Over a week ago, I woke up to a text message from my mom, telling me she was having heart issues and that she was at the hospital. This text came in at 11pm, but I had been asleep for an hour. It was now 6am when I read the message. I ca

People ask me what I do, and I proudly answer, “I’m a Financial Consigliere” a keeper of secrets, the gal that knows what businesses are selling, merging or going public. My clients actually lean in when they tell me their plans, and whisper. More importantly, I make sure they don’t lose the wealth earned, while venturing out for new business. Tod

Recently, I’ve played a lot of golf. “Gettin’ down to divot town”, “ following the path of righteousness in my swing.” Literally learning the swing, then closing my eyes and following thru. YES! I hit the ball with my eyes closed. Twice. For me? About 100 swings for 18 holes. Maybe 90-95. That’s a lot of swings. Hence, proper stretching is require

Can Do...

I had a different blog set for this morning, but something Fred said in our Philadelphia Gotham meeting last night prompted me to save the planned blog for another day, and write about the author. Fred is an amazing person. We all know this, and we surely have told him the same. Fred chooses the best in all of us and draws it to the surface. Like

Do. Or, Do Not.

May the Forth be with you! I know it’s Cinco de Mayo, but, I love Star Wars. To all those Star Wars fans out there, I was reminded of wisdom Yoda shared with young Luke, while stretching his abilities in the swamp. When we clear our minds and decide to DO something, we commit to seeing it thru. I love Yoda and am reminded to remain present. For w

Making It a Treat
Posted By : Carly Bentley

My friend uses the word "treats" to describe anything from cookies, ice cream, taffy, biscuits and even to coffee. She sent me a picture of her outing last week and said, "Niles and I even stopped for "treats"". When I looked at the picture, my mouth started watering and I imagined them sitting on a park bench with the soft warm sun shining on thei

Recently, I had the opportunity to enjoy lunch with two Irishmen at a lovely outdoor cafe in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. When the hostess asked if we wanted shade or sun for our outdoor dining experience, it was thrice clear, that shade should've been the obvious choice. However, we chose the sun. Fair skinned and all. As luck would have it, one in th

The Power of Articulation
Posted By : Carly Bentley

I listen to many pitches delivered through the course of a single week and the ones with the most impact stand out. Typically, they have the best articulated stories, are brief, and get to the point. Do you notice people tune out when you’re telling your story, or are they leaning in? Last week I tuned into a Zoom, and the person speaking went on

The Inspiration Project

Today, I honor our new friend and Founder of The Inspiration Project, Mrs. Barbara Mishkin. Barbara visted our joint Gotham meeting earlier this month and she inspires me, everyday. She's a natural Gothamite. Barbara shares: "A professor gave a balloon to every student, who had to inflate it, write their name on it and throw it in the hallway. The
