My Rap
Posted By : Fred Klein

Last week when my turn came at the joint Queens/Westchester Zoom networking meeting, rather than do my usual presentation, I "Spit":My name is Fred, most people my age are dead.   This Rap shows my Cred and my quest is to make you bread! You should have seen the stunned faces on the full Zoom screen and some who weren't paying full attention evenas

I’m a big fan of ethically used AI. Though this video is nothing like one I would create using real Gotham members and voices and locations, it is amazing technology and especially useful with accurate prompts. Like Facebook, I will weed my feed and utilize the gift that this is…

Text into video
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

We are in the midst of the lightning fast changes in Artificial intelligence. Right now I can type a simple sentence into only AI video apps such as invideo.ai  and in a few minutes, it creates a 2 minute video. As an example I just created this video about Gotham starting at 7:15Am this morning. It took 10 minutes for the software to create and pr

Live performance can be so satisfying. Yes, I’d love her to bring it to NYC.

"Bombshell"
Posted By : Fred Klein

Last Friday we saw our friend, Erin McKenna, a Long Island girl transplanted to Key West, perform at iconic Williams Hall.    It was the first Williams Hall theatrical production, "Bombshell", a 5 act, one woman show starring Erin and directed by her friend Jeremy (The Cat) Zoma . During the arc of the show, Erin transforms herself from a competiti

As you may know, this blog is written from far away Key West (an Island under the protection of Uncle Sam) and, to let you in on a secret, it's a little different down here.     They call it the KONK Republic based on a bizarrely unsuccessful attempt to secede from the Union. It was fueled by a populist pervasive passion for non conformity.   Do

I view it like voting, a flawed system and the best we currently have, the more who participate, the better it gets. We need smart, generous, thoughtful people and you definitely qualify.

Jury Duty
Posted By : Fred Klein

I received a Juror Qualification Questionnaire in the mail.I eyed it warily as Jury Duty, even though provided for in the Constitution, is generally regarded unfavorably.I have been called, but have never served.I filled it out and will send it back.  My initial reaction is, except possibly for my vintage or being an attorney, I should qualify. We

Preparing

On Sunday I will be throwing out the first pitch at the (Mets minor league team) Coney Island Cyclones game (against the Yankees Hudson Valley minor league team). This is a great honor (bestowed upon me by my Gotham City Networking colleagues, especially Rosalia Ruberto and Corey Bearak) and I am both most appreciative and bigly apprehensive...I am

I seem to be the odd one out here. Of course, the trailers shown for Mission Impossible are not going to be your demographic. We went to see The Quiet Girl at Angelika, adored the film, highly recommend, loved having a communal experience with others. Don’t get to the movie theater often and cherish it when I do. Yes, as ever, things are always changing and thank God.

Coming Attractions
Posted By : Fred Klein

We have started going back to the movies, but following our last, most recent, visit I'm not quite sure... We arrived in time for the scheduled start of our chosen flick, unaware that the next 15 minutes are devoted to Coming Attractions and other less biting commercials.  I say "less biting" because the Coming Attractions took a shocking bite out

Showing Up

As a young boy my father constantly told me "You can't get ahead laying in bed with the covers over your head!" Later, Woody Allen said "80 percent of success is showing up."I have led my whole life adhering to these precepts.  I suggest that others follow this advice...

Misogyny is still the worlds biggest problem. Ask again when we have 50% female or other in elected office. All we can do is be kind and breathe. Still wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Is it Still a Man's World?
Posted By : Fred Klein

Last week I wrote about Kirsten Neuschafer (pictured), an extraordinary woman striving to win an around the World single sailor sail boat race against an all male field. I'm happy to announce that at this writing she is still (barely) in the lead.   After reading the blog, the subject question was posed by one of my readers and it got me thinking.
