Wonderful trip David! Thank you so much for sharing some details and pics while inspiring the rest of us. What an amazing adventure you put together; so sorry you had to miss the family dinner party but thankfully you were able to truly enjoy the wedding. I'm very happy you & Daryle got to "splurge" during this special trip, while making up for prior lost travel time. You two deserved it!

Doings Down Under
Posted By : David Abeshouse

Fred asked me to post about my uncharacteristically extended (27-day) recent trip Down Under.  Actually, he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse (Mario Puzo fans will get the reference).  Nancy graciously ceded her Tuesday blog slot to me.  Mitch helpfully gave me a tutorial on the technicalities of posting to the Gotham blog.  It took a village.  P

How wonderful! I think Charcoal had it in her all along and decided why wait to cuddle in? She's also showing, that like you, she's quite agile and physically "younger " than most others of the same age :)

New Tricks!
Posted By : Fred Klein

We have a 10 year old female Schnoodle (mixed breed Schnauzer/Poodle) appropriately named Charcoal by my wife Joanne.   She is, by far, the best dog we have ever lived with. She is so smart that she communicates with her eyes, snorts, barks and tail. So smart that she can tell (dinner) time.     She is loving, loyal, brave, vigilant, sweet, curious

Another vote for a great game with a great ending. Agree with Rob that an odd number of games would be better!

Traditions
Posted By : Shawn Bernabeu

So this week is the Yankees/Mets subway series. Its become a Gotham tradition and its one of the best night of the year! There is a lot of New York baseball tradition. Its sad when it comes to an end or there is an inevitable change. John Sterling has been the voice of the Yankees for 35 years. Years ago on TV and in recent years on AM Radio. He is

Time Marches On
Posted By : Fred Klein

Yesterday I celebrated my pictured Birthday   Satchel Paige once said "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you was?" How profound! Feel free to ask yourself :) I would be 40, when I qualified for the Boston Marathon.   I don't dwell on the ever mounting number as I know I'm in the process of becoming a Tribal Elder and that I've notched

Super excited for today! Yes, I'm decked out in Orange & Blue, although will watch from my couch. May our best hopes of a NY vs NY WS materialize! LGM!

Opening Day
Posted By : Benjamin Geizhals

Today is a special day. Although it is someone’s birthday, everyday is someone’s birthday. Today is special because it’s Opening Day — the Mets in Miami and the Yankees at home.Opening Day is very special. No statistics, hope and optimism reign supreme. Like race horses starting in the gate. All at the same place, waiting for the start. And it’s tim

A coincidence...perhaps

No secret how proud Shelly and I are proud of our children (and our daughter in law too).  When we gathered last night for dinner I toasted Jonathan and Marisa for their recent achievement.  This weekend I tweeted (see pic upper right)-- twice, last night and Friday -- about proud parent moments:   Jonathan -- published again -- this time in Studi

For me 1969 means the year I learned English and tried to "fit-in". I arrived on US soil 12/26/68, from Colombia, so we moved to our new apartment that Jan (Mom still resides there). We had to go to summer school to learn English; my 12 year old sister & 10 year old me took a bus to the Bronx by ourselves! (Dad worked, Mom stayed home with two younger sisters). We actually learned a great deal that summer, and from watching Sesame Street & the Electric Company. Still remember watching the Moon Landing, but don't recall anything about the Mets historic win. At that time we were all about studying to learn English and try to engage with a whole new world. Do recall the excitement at school over the Mets but did not understand why....how times have changed for me. Today I ardently say Let's Go Mets, Jets & Knicks; it would be miraculous to see a repeat of '69 from a NY Sports perspective and now I'd fully grasp the excitement :)

Last week my Friday With Fred blog was about the Anubis Horribus year of 1968, eg, 2 assassinations and my friend David Berger suggested I lighten it up by blogging about the wonderful subsequent year.   1969 has been called The Year That Shook the World.   Pictured are many of the wonderful highlights of a wonderful bounce-back year! For me, a Spo
