During this time where we read of folks infected and worse by the Coronavirus COVID-19 and wish and seek healing, I offer a collection of tunes to promote a healthy feeling. I titled it, "Doin' Fine," after my fave Savoy Brown tune, also included in this set.
I enjoyed creating a few playlists this year shared in some prior blogs; indeed I enjoyed almost the entire Song for the Road playlist blogged on last week during a recent road trip and two shorter "runs" in between.

Sometimes a song just sticks in your head. Leaving the gym Thursday was one of those moments. A Traffic song. But just not a song but a live version from a particular LP (“Welcome To The Canteen” featured the original Traffic quartet Steve Winwood, Dave Mason, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood accompanied by Ric Grech on bass, Rebop Kwaku Baah on percussion and Jim Gordon on drums).
I knew several version reside in my iTunes including the original studio version on Last Exit and t...

This afternoon, Gotham hosts its annual Battle of the Bands®.
In contrast to discussions about politics that tend towards controversy and division, music tends to bring people of different persuasions together.
Some of my social media posts (I purpose avoid giving P.R. to either platform in this blog) invite “interesting” comments. Even articles I share on Gotham Political Listserve (Politics@GothamNetworking.com) engender intense discourse.
Not so when I post abo...

Nothing like live music; especially good live shows.
Already this month, famous for the "Ides of ...." and how it "weathers," shapes up rather nicely.
On its second day, I enjoyed original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh ("Bobby & Phil Duo") at Radio City.
On the "Ides", no assassinaton but rather a celebration of two great talents, both members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Traffic and Buffalo Springfield. As I tweeted that eve Dave Mason smo...

My enjoyment of good music remains steadfast. Those who know me best know my preferences (tastes?). Indeed leaving a lunch last month at my alma mater (same place for poli. sci. and law school) the question, what is Poco?, got posed by the distinguished ethics professor and the speaker my friend Sean and I delivered to the Mineola LIRR on our way back to Queens. A bumper sticker displayed prominently on the rear states “Induct Poco into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Employi...

Let me start with best wishes for the new year. I hope I helped a bit to get you ready with last week’s blog highlighting my song list to ring in the new year which also exists in a YouTube playlist. (If you tire of music since two weeks ago I covered my Holiday song playlist and last week I shared concerts I streamed driving to a Chanukah gathering, you better consider stopping now!)
For the past seven new year’s eves, I compose a different list.
A top ten list.

Tempted
Out with friends for dinner with more than a few couples before a charity function sponsored by my Knights of Pythias (FDR) Lodge, the ladies evidently were discussing plans ahead and my wife shared our plans for next weekend. Our friend Abby asked how many times Shelly and I attended a Squeeze show. I responded at least four.
That answer was correct only to how many shows we attended together through the summer of 2008. Since that time, we we experienced lead...

I returned the favor.
For my birthday Shelly took me to see Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes at B.B. King's Saturday eve.
In my college years I would see a concert on on near the date of my birthday. Approaching my 18th birthday, I saw Dave Mason at Hofstra U. About a week shy the following year I saw Eric Clapton at the Nassau Coliseum. The following year it was a doubleheader of sorts at that same venue -- Loggins & Messina, Fleetwood Mac and John Sebastian fi...
