One of the (many) things that I look forward to as much of our nation recovers from the impacts of COVID-19 centers around the return of live music, and soon I’ll get to start seeing some of my all-time faves live in concert!   Several blogs ago I mentioned a night out to see some live music ahead of the return of Gotham Battle of the Bands®, this time virtually. As it happened (Read Friday’s blogger’s account.), and it was not the first time, the winners included a four-mem...
Motivated in part by a campaign I enjoy (don’t tell the client) advising in New York City’s Municipal Primary elections, I posted a Gotham promo Friday that opened with the same musical Happy Father’s Day message, I enjoy make a tradition posting when I open my commentary every Father’s Day: a video of current Poco bassist and vocalist Jack Sundrud performing Father’s Day with his Idlewheel partner Craig Bickhardt. In part because of the aforementioned campaign this Father’s ...
A year ago I blogged about gathering virtually for Passover (and for others, on Easter). No one thought then we would still be dealing with COVID19, albeit with many of us “vaxxed” or on the way to be such. Nonetheless its a big deal that we were able to gather in our small but safe core. My daughter took care of making sure a new seder plate she procured for her family got “filled” appropriately. And the daughter stepped in and handled all the kitchen duties for her mom this...
A year ago I found myself blogging about how “my” baseball team messed up things, some not its fault, some self-induced with the selection of a new manager. Perhaps fitting under the prior never ready for prime time owners. Things changed this off-season, perhaps not soon enough, but certainly in satisfying ways for most, if not all, fans of my team which (obvious to most readers) plays at Citifield.   This year some signings – a well-regarded catcher and a talented relief pi...
This blog concerns some “wonders” of Gotham. I planned another topic. I committed myself to another topic. Somehow Friday’s blogger On Dec 11, 2020, at 4:39 PM, Fred Klein wrote: Great blog subject convinced me to share this account.  Sometime around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, as I am leaving my car, I hear WFAN Craig Carton telling Evan Roberts to stop by a Philly Pretzel Factory store Saturday after a “Drive-By giveaway for New York Mets Season Ticket holders at Citifield....

Baseball is back this weekend. For real.  The Mets hosted the Yankees in a summer exhibition game.  Last night's outcome confused. It included players I do not expect nor want to play when the games count but it was nice to experience it via the telly. There’s more tonight. Did you check it out last night?   Do you plan to watch it tonight? It also makes me excited to think about those same teams playing against each other for real on September 11, 2021, when Gotham and my...
This time of year, I usually look to gather lists of summer concerts, many free, to recommend. Not this year. Often, the discussions about music involve what great show got canceled, postponed or rescheduled. Not sure how many texts and emails I’ve exchanged with my friend Jason about changes involving shows planned at Jones Beach this year. We’ve talked about things such as drive-in concerts – not something either one of us consider an acceptable option; a drive-in movie inv...
President’s weekend honors our first and 16th Presidents. Why not honor them by extolling public and community service? Many we know toil in government gigs at all levels. Next time your see them or speak to them (or email or message them), just thank them. Many of them and many of you also perform some community service. Describe something better than doing giving back in that way. It makes a difference. It makes the community better. It makes life better. It makes the world...
When I think about the approach of Thanksgiving, I think about more than giving thanks for my family, friends, colleagues and my life. More and more the focus involves giving. I only hope I do enough. The Tuesday that follows Thanksgiving – Giving Tuesday – represents a culmination of giving efforts through Gotham. As Friday’s blogger repeatedly reminds us on Fredslist and various Gotham groups he attends, Gotham’s Holiday Party that eve features the selection of charities th...
I do not recall feeling like this last fall. Perhaps because I had most of the summer 2018 to ease into things. All I know is some sort of void exists. My team plays no longer. The only recent event involved a firing of the manager. On the other hand Friday's blogger’s team still plays. I find I really miss watching my team and attending the games.   While I plan to be there Opening Day 2020 and already took 145 RSVPs between Gotham City Networking and my FDR Lodge 613 Knight...
