At Gotham Happy Hour I shared something about today’s Gotham blog. Friday’s blogger remarked nice to not discuss my outside office (he used a different term!).  Well I did go there but only to retrieve the coffee pot so Shelly’s brew could remain in the thermal pot parked inside the kitchen-based coffeemaker. And I still found some time for yardwor

A change for the season & much more

Friday I decided the time had come to substantially close down the deck and patio for the upcoming winter.  Part of the problem involved the level of plans that reduced expected opportunities to use the space much over the next several weeks.  Call it crowded calendar syndrome; not a bad thing; indeed we enjoyed early plans last night (More on that

Two weeks of celebrations.

Last night was the last of two consecutive birthday celebrations involving the Bearak household.  The need to herald the Gotham Green Awards and call for applications via last week’s commentary sort of combine this into one.  Last night I tweeted, “Finally seeing the historical play on Broadway developed by the very talented son of my friend ⁦‪@Veg

A special day in the park
Posted By : Corey Bearak

Last weekend it was Saturday in the Park; this past week the park theme continues but on Friday:  Our son got married Friday afternoon. In Central Park. The Shakespeare Garden.    Our son and his bride met at NYU. Our Grad student Jonathan approached undergrad bride to be in Washington Square Park seven years ago. Though outdoors, the location (a

Gotham held a picnic in Queens, not the usual Long Island location. Last Spring tribal council prevailed on this commentator to arrange it. I targeted the Alley-Springfield portion of my fave Alley Pond Park because it included a good size parking lot, enjoyed a comfort station and plenty of ball fields. It also lies about 1/4 miles north of the hi

It’s nice to be be busy – and I am not talking about work (but that too!) When this weekend got scoped some time ago, my daughter was getting the benefit of attending a Broadway matinee (Letters of Suresh) with her mom yesterday and an afternoon game at Citifield today with her dad. Plans change. The Baseball gods moved the game from this afternoon

It was a special night.  I think my tweet captured the sentiment.   We gathered at Citi Field last night.   It involved more than a game. Shelly posted on Facebook some nice pics of the pre-game ceremony.  The outcome on the field remained secondary (thought there certainly are those happy or not at that) to the commemoration.  Bottom line,

Take It Easy
Posted By : Corey Bearak

While I like to attend concerts, the stadia, amphitheater, arena experience – in terms of accessing the facility and one’s seats – involves nothing easy. That said, the experience once inside borders on exhilaration, especially if you know and enjoy the music. One song tied together the concerts my daughter and I enjoyed last Wednesday and as this

There was supposed to be a show tonight but weather concerns put it off to later this week. If not for that, I could state music consumes this weekend. Nonetheless, I saw some really solid performances Friday and Saturday. Dead and Company performed Friday eve at Citi Field. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation's Never Forget Concert Saturday at Jones B
