One family member, a sixty-something man, is going to be supported by his family indefinitely. Complicated back story, and no bad guys. He's intelligent and creative, not great at personal finance, and not going to be hired by anyone. (Has lost money trying to build his own business.) Other family members want advice from an objective professional, who has not been involved in any of this, who can help them determine a reasonable amount for him to live on. They think it's an accountant. Maybe? I have said that any objective professional needs guidance on the parameters for deciding what is a reasonable amount to live on in Los Angeles, or anywhere else. Is it a personal trainer who comes to your house every day? Or is it a basic membership at Planet Fitness? Or a jump rope from Amazon? Probably not the last two in this case, but the family needs to give this some thought. He does have a MoneyWellness coach. But she is his advocate, not her role to be objective. Having spent over 20 years as a litigator, her volunteerism and personal experiences led Tara to a decision in 2019 to leave her partnership at a litigation firm to start her education, advocacy, and mediation practice. Tara works with students and their families of all ages to help them advocate for the special education services and supports that will help them reach their full potential. She also enjoys working with young adults who are transitioning into or in higher education and may need support to effectively access the supports needed to be successful. With a philosophy centered on empathy, collaboration, and conflict resolution, she is proud of her success in helping students negotiate resolutions to conflicts that have arisen, and getting them back on the path to academic success as quickly as possible. In her personal life, Tara is a long-time resident of Westchester County, living in Tuckahoe with her husband and two children. Tara is deeply committed to volunteerism and community service.
