Congratulations, Josh! What a heartwarming story. It took a lot of persistence and vision to make this happen.

And what a credit to the Gotham Spirit!

Thanks, Josh!

Subject: [Fredslist] A Gotham success story

Gotham,
I know I have not been on lately, but I thought I would share this with you. Sorry it is long but it is worth the read!

Three plus years ago at a Gotham Princeton event Natalie Tung came to speak to Gotham Princeton about her organization HomeWorks Trenton a nonprofit that provides afterschool programming and Boarding for young women of color in Trenton NJ. And someday they will have a home of their own. When I asked her why "someday" and why not now? Natalie paused and said we need to find a place and would need a lot of money to make it happen. Again I said why not now....this started us on a 3 year journey finding a property that was right for them and getting Entitlements though Trenton and the canal commission and so many others...and Natalie doing an amazing job fundraising to make this happen....the journey is about to take a turn... on November 10th we will be ground breaking on their new home!! Which will house 42 high school scholars. This organization is making a huge difference in these young peoples lives putting them on an path to success, which in turn means Gotham is putting them on a path to success. They received a gift from the summer of giving last year as well.

The structure they purchased was originally built in 1740 as a farm house and most likely saw General Washington's army preparing for the battle of Trenton. In the late 1890's it became the Florence Crittenden Home for Fallen Women and in the 1990's it became a home for the NJ Women's Juvenile Justice System. So this house has served the women of Trenton for over a 120 years. Moving forward, instead of entrenching them in societal legacy of racial segregation, Homeworks will be empowering them to take a hold of their future in this wonderful building!

I have attached a rendering of the finished product. And here is their website if you are interested.

It is a success story I think Gotham should tell and should be proud of.

I will keep you posted on the progress and when it is completed. Shooting for August of 2025!!!

All the best,

Josh
