Gotham –

Thank you for the many responses to my email. It worked out that the seller was able to get what she needed and the closing has not had to be rescheduled.

That said – she may call one of the people who responded because something is off with her attorney.

Of course – nothing is off with Gotham when it comes to getting recommendations for attorneys –

Thanks to everyone who responded – you (and Gotham) are great!

Subject: [Fredslist] Estate lawyer needed to help close coop purchase

Gotham – I am scheduled to close on the purchase of my dream apartment. The apartment is located in my current coop building. The seller is a widow. Her real estate broker and real estate attorney were a misery for us both to deal with. The managing agent was a challenge. The board approval was easy. The problem is that is appears that her real estate attorney did not properly alert her to something that her estate attorney needed to deal with and her estate attorney is ignoring her communication.

Obviously this is something for the seller to deal with – but I want the apartment and she is a lovely person and we are both tired of the delays that have been imposed on us.

The issue is that the coop’s managing agent is requiring that she provide them with “the federal release or affidavit and the affidavit of debts and domicile.”

She doesn’t think she can deal with her estate attorney to get what is needed.

She may need a new estate attorney who can help her just close everything out.

If you can help get us to closing and know how to take over an estate from another attorney please let me know.
