[Fredslist] Patent/trademark Attorney advice

Hi everyone -

 

I need to pick someone's  brain. My son is developing an app for his field,
med/pharm related, and wants to  approach his company about perhaps funding
its development. However, I thought he should first get a 'proof of concept'
(or something of that nature) to protect his idea before presenting it to
his company.

 

Am I off base? If I'm correct, what would something of this nature entail?
