Founded in 2003, CREW works to expose ethics violations and corruption by government officials and institutions, and to reduce the role of money in politics.
Opportunities For A Better Tomorrow – Selected by Ray Walcott of Capital One. Founded in 1983, the mission at OBT is to break the cycle of poverty and inequity through education, job training, and employment. Their vision is to strengthen the workforce by serving as a bridge to economic opportunity for youth, individuals and families in underserved communities.
City Parks Foundation – Selected By Susan Schoenberg of HPS Jewelers. City Parks Foundation’s mission is to encourage New Yorkers to use their neighborhood parks. They make parks vibrant centers of community for New Yorkers across all five boroughs through sports, arts, community building, and environmental education programs.
Shriners Hospitals For Children – Selected by Annamarie Bondi-Stoddard, Esq. of the Pegalis Law Group. Shriners Childrens has been providing hope and healing to children for over 100 years. Their compassionate, prestigious doctors, nurses and care teams are committed to excellence in pediatric care and improving the quality of life for children.
JFCS & Homeworks Trenton– Selected by Josh Zinder of Joshua Zinder Architecture + Design. Homeworks is a free, community-based after-school residential program that provides academic and identity-driven leadership enrichment activities to marginalized high school girls. Homes For The Brave – Selected by College Advisor Hans Hanson. In addition, over the years they have implemented a 42-bed transitional living facility for the homeless, and a 3-story residence with 9 housing units.
Welles Remy Crowther Charitable Trust – Ed Bienstock, of Bienstock Private Jewelers. If you’re a member of Gotham, you’ve heard the story about the Man in The Red Bandana. Son of the late Gothamite Jefferson Crowther and his wife Allison, and the inspiration for our Red Bandana Award, Welles Remy Crowther was an equities trader on the 104th floor of 2 WTC. Welles always carried a red bandana in his pocket, and when the planes hit the Towers on 9/11, instead of saving himself, Welles donned thered bandana to protect his nose and mouth from smoke and debris, and made multiple trips to help save others. The Welles Remy Crowther Foundation was started by the Crowther Family to honor and keep their beloved son’s memory alive through good works benefitting young people. Its mission is to recognize and award academic and athletic excellence in young men and women who serve their communities through education, health, recreation and character development. The Trust supports other not-for-profit organizations that benefit young people through annual gifts and special awards.
