Last week a group of intrepid Gotham members gathered to play Trivia. The event was made possible by longtime Gotham member, Renee Richter, of CenterPoint Funding Corp. Greg Rose, GHR Communications and our events chair, Norman Spizz, SPN Music and Entertainment served as hosts.

Did you know that in addition to having the benefit of improving and expanding our knowledge, the main objective of the game is to create discussion and interaction among players?  Sounds like Gotham Networking to me …

Neither music nor politics came up very often, so no advantage for our musical playlist expert and sports aficionado. Can you name him?  No cash prize for him.

The insurance category was noticeably absent, so no edge for "Happy Hour Insurance Pro" or the "Insurance Guy." Do you know who they are?  Nope - no prize here either.

There was no category involving sites and scenes of NYC, so being a tour guide did not help ___ (fill in  the blank.)who not go offline with a gift card.

This chronicler managed a higher score than the two names on screen who were not playing. If you were not there, don’t bother guessing.

And one of the players managed to be in 3 places at the same time and still did not win a dime. Your clue - he is in real estate not tech. And not a trivia winner that night either.

Oh well … the thing is that Trivial Pursuit is not only about winning. OK, given the ferocity of the competition, winning was nothing trivial to the players. Let’s say the competition was friendly and fierce.

In the end Rich Slomovich won two games garnering $100 in gift cards as did Caitlyn Ryan. Jeff Goldberg managed a win as well, earning $50 for a game well played. Check out their bios on the website and schedule a 1-1, a winning move for sure.

Oh, and as for the benefit of “discussion and interaction among players”… I will honor my editorial policy of not revealing everything that went on lest I effect a chilling effect on the stimulating and creative conversations we enjoy and Gotham events.

Let’s say that we had a rollicking good time as evidenced by the laughter – some, not all - in response to Norman’s jokes.
