What is Meant by Modular Construction?

Modular construction is a process where a building is constructed off site
using controlled plant conditions before being transported and assembled at
a final location. This type of construction can incorporate a range of
different building types and floor plans.  *It is not the huge building on
a truck taking up the road.*

On May 19 we have Michael Foster who will share his experience with modular
construction, and how it is and can be used.

What are the advantages? How does this compare to more typical buildings?
Are they as durable, saleable, can you get financing? are they expandable?
