For 20 years—including 12 living in Asia—Fernando Ciccarelli has built leading retail, wholesale and finance organizations in the luxury industry, driving dramatic increases in growth and profitability.  At the same time, he has unique expertise in mergers and acquisitions for US luxury brands in Asia, with nine successful integrations across several countries. 

Most recently, he led Tumi’s Asia Pacific business as Senior Vice President and Managing Director based in Hong Kong from 2014 until 2017.  Charged by the board of directors to develop and execute a new direct-to-consumer strategy, he initiated three critical distributor acquisitions in Japan, Korea, and China.  By successfully completing all three in less than three years, his team was able to nearly double top-line sales, shifting over two-thirds of the sales mix to directly owned operations.

Prior to Tumi, Fernando spent 15 years with Coach in diverse senior roles, including regional assignments in Asia, China, and Japan. During his time with Coach in Asia, the direct retail business grew exponentially, to over $1 Billion in sales in 2013.

In both instances, the companies achieved growth by elevating their brands with marketing improvements, upgrading retail store environments, launching e-commerce, and improving the experience in the travel retail channel.

Preceding his general management roles, he had regional (Asia Pacific) CFO responsibilities. As the senior finance leader on the ground in a public (NYSE) company, Fernando had to implement robust financial and operational processes, build a multi-country organization, and establish consistent controls, standards and reporting measures throughout every market. These changes were critical in sustaining a strong operating culture and creating a scalable model for future growth and acquisitions.

Fernando’s commercial leadership abilities, cross-cultural insights and thorough understanding of global business dynamics are great assets for a company with international ambitions.  A brand that desires to launch internationally can leverage his experience and network to accelerate results efficiently and effectively.  A company that is already operating internationally can utilize his skills to improve, expand, or transform their business.
