[Fredslist] adobe flash player discontinuation

Hello my fellow Gothamites, especially the computer geeks:

What does the message that Adobe Flash player is being discontinued mean?
Does one have to replace it and if so, with what?   What are the
implications lf leaving it enabled?  I have an old Mac desktop and also an
iphone and ipad.
