[Fredslist] A week in Review ...

Typically a week in review is a reflection looking backward over a week. Well Gotham isn’t a typical networking community and the shelleygram™️ is not your typical reportage. So the "week" is a fluid concept that starts and ends whenever.

Let’s begin the last time Power and Business came together. Vincent Chirico (Chirico Law) was in the spotlight talking mostly about his Gotham experience. He said that he gets 6-8 ideas a month from Gotham. WOW!

It’s easy to see why brain sparks are abundant in Gotham given the range of topics - sports, politics, clubhouse, podcasts, music, humor, and of course business. When Gotham convenes we never know what will come up and what we can take away. Did you know it’s termite season? Just ask Matthew Nowak (Ehrlich Pest Control.)

By now those of you who read the Gotham blogs have learned that, while chicken and charcoal typically evoke images of barbecue, that is not the case in Key West where the Key West Chicken managed to escape the heated pursuit and naked determination of Charcoal and Co.

At the recent Bandit meeting, Davida Perry (Schwartz, Perry and Heller) assumed her new role as Group Coordinator. Her powers of persuasion were clearly evidenced by two potential new members. One application is already in!

During the past year, Happy Hours became more frequent and business seminars were added to the calendar. We enjoyed a business seminar last week with Carol Greenwald (Marketing Partners) who shared why it is so important to be aware of how to blend marketing principles and professional skills. Did you know that 66% or people search online before hiring a professional? Seems like hiring a professional is no different from buying a pair of socks or ordering electronics online these days!

Realizing that eventually Zoom will be virtually the exception to the rule, a new group was started. Gotham Virtual is designed to exist as an online group in perpetuity and is the perfect group for professionals who are not limited by territory, The group held its 4th meeting and member Bill Solz ( Stress Solutions of New York) was in the spotlight. Bill demonstrated his stress reduction technique. Just in case anyone experiences stress (imagine such a thing!) this technique is something we can actually do for ourselves once we know the steps.

Notable among recent past events, at the most recent Friday Happy Hour where Norman Spizz (SPN Music and Entertainment) treated us to his first flugelhorn performance in several years and it was wonderful. … the consummate showman has not lost his chops

And speaking of events. Check the Gotham calendar … we are slowly and steadily moving out of lockdown and will soon be leaving our Zoom boxes for golf, baseball, and the annual picnic which will take place at the “home” of a Gotham Green Award® winner Alley Pond.
