Pat - Great to hear from you! Thanks for clarification. But I have no doubt there there are students and scholarship recipients who would say the same of you. I'm sure teacher likability features high on the litmus text for the NYS Teacher of the Year.
Stay sale. And stay well.
Kelly
P.S.: Perhaps you can visit us virtually one day.

Thank you, Kelly! Beverly is indeed my hero, but I think she is referring to a different Miss Jordan. Coincidentally, her mentor, the late Fay Boulware was also a dear friend of mine .
Hope you and yours and our Gotham family are doing well amidst these horrific times.
Stay safe,Pat Jordan

Tribe -
Wish you were there.
I eavesdropped yesterday, having clicked the wrong link. What a moving, insightful and meaningful group conversation!
THANK YOU AUTHOR BEVERLY DANIEL TATUM FOR YOUR PASSION, RESILIENCE & COURAGE!

Hats off to former Gotham Diversity member & NYS Teacher of the Year, Pat Jordan. Pat wasn’t there but might as well have been when author
Beverly Daniel Tatum, PhD talked about her sense of isolation from everything white while in school - until she landed in Miss Jordan’s class. Why? “She was the only teacher who made me feel loved.”
That love was a turning point for Beverly. Her statement is testament to the power of love, acknowledgment, being seen and inclusion.
Thank you Gotham once again for providing a forum for thoughtful exploration of timely subjects.

So grateful to our Gotham leadership for the opportunity to learn and grow together. And it’s not too late to read “Why are all the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?” By Beverly Daniel Tatum, PhD
