[Fredslist] Join us for a very special Bandit meeting, Nov 4

Are you wondering how you want to celebrate the day after election day? May
I suggest riding the Zoom circuit to Bandit, November 4 (12:30-2:00).

 

This promises to be a unique meeting because we're going to give the
spotlight to a special guest, Tori Travers, the director of volunteers at
Upwardly Global, a non-profit that Bandit member Rita Sue Siegel is active
in. Upwardly Global is a non-profit organization that assists immigrants and
refugees to prepare themselves for careers in the US. Each of Upwardly
Global's members has at least 5 years of work experience and one college
degree.  All have permission to work in the U.S. and do not need visas.
Volunteers like Rita Sue help individuals for their job search by holding
"mock interviews," having conversations so they may practice their English,
developing resumes with them, etc. In the spirit of Gotham's mantra "It's
better to give than receive," Rita Sue has asked Tori to come visit Bandit
to discuss ways in which we can all help, whether by donating time or money
or even helping find job opportunities for these professionals. 

 

Please join us in celebrating or mourning the election results by
connecting/reconnecting with Bandit's members and learning more about
Upwardly Global. After all, immigrants made America great and continue to do
so. And if you're curious, check out the attached PDF to see many of the
current job seekers in the Upwardly Global pipeline. Perhaps you can help
one of them achieve his or her American Dream.
