I have extensive work experience in the apparel industry.  My most recent focus has been in product development, global sourcing and the negotiation of raw material and garment costs.  Through numerous global restructurings, I led the company in designing and implementing the organizational structure, business process and company calendar for various functions.  Most recently, I led teams in the US, and remotely, in Europe and Asia.  My teams worked cross functionally with internal and external partners, frequently managing the competing priorities of these stakeholders, to meet both company profitability goals and aggressive company calendar deadlines.

In consideration of my career and personal priorities, I am exploring opportunities in the public sector and with mission driven organizations, particularly those focused on the quality of life in our communities and in particular, the educational opportunities and outcomes for underserved youth.  I developed this interest during nearly twenty years of involvement in Brooklyn public schools.  I served on the boards of Parents Associations and School Leadership Teams and led various, specific efforts in support of the schools and the community:


  *   Worked closely with school administrators to increase family engagement, particularly from underrepresented groups.
  *   Led student recruitment and community awareness efforts for the school.
  *   Created partnership with local development corporation to gain funding and manage a comprehensive after school program.
  *   Fostered partnership with conservatory to provide sequential music instruction to students as well as professional development to school staff.
  *   Launched annual capital campaigns focused on securing funds from elected officials for technology upgrades and the renovation of school facilities and athletic fields.
  *   Wrote and secured a grant from The Trust for Public Land to design and construct a new playground.
  *   Instrumental in securing a multi year magnet grant to fund schoolwide arts enrichment both during and after the school day.
  *   Led fundraising efforts to support the college and career guidance office.
I am seeking opportunities which would allow me to combine the broad management skills I have gained as a business leader with my passion for improving the quality of our communities and in particular, the educational opportunities and outcomes for our young people.
