Mmmmmmmm, sounds delicious! I actually do some great soups, BUT I never follow a recipe (I’m too ADHD for such formalities) so they always come out somewhat different.

This is a classic daal / lentil soup from India

Here’s a hearty & healthy lentil soup

4 garlic cloves
1 onion
1 carrot
1 tomato
1 cup green split peas

1 teaspoon ground garam masala (if you have it)
1 teaspoon ground ginger (if you have it)
1 teaspoon ground turmeric (if you have it)
1/2 teaspoon ground cardomom (if you have it)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (if you have it)
1 teaspoon ground salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

2 tablespoons oil

Heat oil on MEDIUM HEAT in a deep pot (pasta pot, soup pot, etc. Not a frying pan!)
Add spices, cook for 1-2 minutes
Add vegetables, cook for 3 minutes
Add lentils, cook for 3 minutes
Add water (2 cups for DRY lentils, 4 cups for soup)
Cook for 10 minutes

ENJOY

You can play with the spices
You can add bacon, meats, etc
You can replace or add the veggies
