[Fredslist] Over 18% of the NYS economy

Did you know that in 2016 over 18% of the NYS workforce was employed by non-profits? That’s over 31,000 separate companies!  Did you know that works out to 1.3 million people in NY alone? I’m not talking about their lawyers, accountants, bankers, real estate brokers, appraisers, fundraisers, event planners, photographers, florists, insurance guys, IT vendors, etc… Those numbers are just EMPLOYEES!

They aren’t all small mom and pop non-profits either!  It includes all NYS hospitals! It includes organizations whose net worth is in the hundreds of millions of dollars (as well as a few thousand)!  That’s just in NY  - it doesn’t include NJ, CT or PA! Numbers are undoubtedly similar there!

So if you aren’t trying to figure out how to connect with non-profits that have positive operating margins you are losing out on a huge business opportunity!

Because people in those states understand the potential business opportunities offered by people in the non-profit sector, they have signed up for our next Make a Difference lunch meeting at 12:30 pm on March 19 at the Club Quarters at 40 West 45th Street.  You know the group and the meeting!  It’s the one where the chief non-profit regulator in NY will be speaking about all sorts of topics, including probably the Trump Foundation suit.  We already have more guests signed up for the meeting than we have MAD members – and that’s 2 weeks before our meeting!
