Dear Fellow Gotham members
My sister, who lives in Northern California, has a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer.
She completed chemo and radiation and had surgery; and her doctors have been working to get her into a trial study for an experimental drug. Needed was a sign off from the insurance company. The insurance company said they would do that.
There were deadlines for completing the trial application. Only piece needed was the paper-work from the insurance company to the drug company.
Last week she was informed by an individual at the insurance company that she got busy over the year-end holidays and they did not get the paperwork in. My sister is now being denied participation in the drug-trial lottery. The trial is significant because of the aggressiveness of the cancer.
It seems a significant gross-error and rather cavalier posture on the insurance company’s part, to say the least.
Any help in referring someone who could take up her case, has experience in something like this, or has suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
All best,
Rick Raymond
