On Saturday morning, as members of a Pittsburgh synagogue gathered for weekly Sabbath prayers and baby-naming ceremony, a man entered the Jewish house of worship, and in a hate-filled attack, killed 11 congregants and injured numerous others, including four polices officers.

Some of us here in Philadelphia have colleagues, friends and family in the Pittsburgh Community, and in the Jewish Community of faith—we grieve for those who were murdered and injured, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to their families.

This week and at our November 8th meeting, I encourage everyone to wear the color orange. This color is used to symbolize opposition to violence, to signal our support for the Pittsburgh victims, the Jewish community and all victims of hatred and violence.
