[Fredslist] Yaphank recommendations?

Hi Gotham,
Friends from Florida are attending teenage baseball tourney in Yaphank Aug 7 - 12.  
They are looking for a good place to stay near the beach within 1/2 hour travel time.  

Any recommendations of places you like, have stayed at, should not stay at, can’t miss?
