[Fredslist] Jack Friedman Way! (at 254 Street & Union Tpke., Queens)

Sunday morning I was honored to be present at the Street Naming for former Gotham member & Exec. Director of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, Jack Friedman.  Jack was, as described by NY State Rep. David Weprin, a mensch! Sadly Jack passed way too young in 2016.

Gotham’s Corey Bearak, as a close friend of Jack’s, spoke at the dedication ceremony. Jack was always very thoughtful, helpful and giving; I experienced this first hand.
City Council member Barry Grodenchik, and US House Rep. for NY Tom Suozzi led the countdown to the street name unveiling. Jack’s daughter spoke eloquently about the fun family man, who is smiling down at the Mets. The family received a NYC Proclamation and replica of the street sign which Corey and I will now pass frequently as it is in our neighborhood.

On a bitter cold morning, the public recognition of Jack Friedman brought warmth and joy to so many of us who were touched by this great Queens lover and tribe member. It was only fitting that the Mets won again today! I miss the warmth and huge smile of Jack, as Amparo
