Litigation Paralegal
Small law firm (under 10 employees) with main offices in Staten Island, New York, looking for an associate attorney. Easy access from SI Expressway or public transportation from SI Ferry.
Civil Litigation practice predominantly in Richmond, Kings, and New York counties in commercial litigation, debtor-creditor law, real estate litigation, and election law. Approximate 80% - 20% split between state and federal courts. Some appellate work.
Assist lawyers by investigating facts, preparing legal documents, or researching legal precedent. Conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
*         Prepare affidavits or other documents, such as legal correspondence, and organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing system.
*         Prepare for trial by performing tasks such as organizing exhibits.
*         Prepare legal documents, including briefs, motions, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, and real estate closing statements.
*         Prepare and transmit Discovery requests.
*         Ensure time entries in to CLIO or other Legal Management Software System, ensure expenses are accounted for and appropriately tagged to each client.
*         Meet with clients and other professionals to discuss details of case.
*         File pleadings with court clerk
REQUIREMENTS:
  *   1 + years of Corporate Paralegal experience
  *   Pending admission to the Bar in New York or New Jersey a definite advantage and there would be a high probability this role would turn in to an associate position once admitted to practice in the state of New York
  *   Exemplary communication, research and organizational skills
  *   The ability to multi-task in a highly demanding, deadline driven environment
  *   Excel skills required
  *   Experience working in a large corporate setting or law firm preferred
  *   A four-year degree and/or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
  *   Excellent computer and organizational skills required.

Attorney
Small law firm (under 10 employees) with main offices in Staten Island, New York, looking for an associate attorney. Easy access from SI Expressway or public transportation from SI Ferry.
Civil Litigation practice predominantly in Richmond, Kings, and New York counties in commercial litigation, debtor-creditor law, real estate litigation, and election law. Approximate 80% - 20% split between state and federal courts. Some appellate work.
Transactional practice predominantly estate / Medicaid planning and asset protection.
Duties will mainly involve drafting documents, collaborating with staff, court appearances, and other tasks reasonably associated with such an attorney position.
Excellent computer and organizational skills required. New York admission required. New Jersey admission a plus.
