Our featured speaker will be Mia Cahill, Ph. D., Esq, a Partner at Dennigan Cahill Smith, LLC who will be giving an exciting talk about the ten things every adult should know about marriage and divorce.

You know there will be a day that you're at a cocktail party, and a friend will tell you they are getting divorced.  More happily, you, a child or a friend may marry.  Whether you know it or not, either way, getting married, or getting divorced involves many legal decisions that most people don't even know they're making.  So if a little bit of knowledge is dangerous, beware, because that what you'll get from this talk.  Just enough to be dangerous, and hopefully, enough to also be aware of some of the hidden legal decisions we make.

Mia is happily married living in Princeton New Jersey, because her husband is completely convinced he'll be trounced in a divorce...  She is a partner in a Princeton, NJ law firm along the Rt. 1 corridor, practicing in Mercer, Middlesex and Somerset Counties.  Prior to practicing law, she received a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (specializing in the area of sociology of law).  She has taught at the University of Wisconsin and New York University, and works as occasional part-time faculty at Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Studies. Her scholarly work has been published in the Stanford Law Review, Law & Social Inquiry, the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law & Policy and the Law & Society Review, and in several books such as How Law Matters, The Diffusion of Social Problems and the "Women in Crisis" Handbook of the United Nations Women's Guild. In 2001, she authored the book, The Social Construction of Sexual Harassment Law.
