[Fredslist] A quick shout-out to the Gotham Women L.I. group

[David Abeshouse]

A quick shout-out to the Gotham Women L.I. group, to which I "rode the
circuit" this morning (from my regular Gotham L.I. group), with my wife as
my guest. 

 

The group, which I've visited several times over the years, always is warm
and welcoming to guests, even if they're male..   ;^)  No ritual male
sacrifices were made to the deities of business networking on this occasion.


 

Instead, all of the members made my wife - who is a nurse, and for whom this
was her first real networking meeting - feel very accepted and part of the
fold.  She was pleased to see how group members sincerely offer to help each
other and visitors, as well.  She enjoyed the entire experience.  

 

Kudos as always to Nancy for running a great meeting and to Lisa Waterman
for keeping things organized, behind the scenes.  And there was a
fascinating young featured guest speaker for the last 20 minutes of the
meeting - the youngest elected official in NYS spoke about his amazing
accomplishments over his first few years in public service and his varied
goals for improving life on Long Island.  

 

You don't have to be female (or even consider gender reassignment surgery)
to ride the circuit to this group.  It's pretty simple - ask Lisa whether
there's a conflict, and if you're approved, pay the nominal fee on the
website.  

 

I intend to ride the circuit there (and elsewhere) again, whenever my
schedule permits.  I highly recommend it to broaden your horizons within
Gotham.
