Hello Gothamites,

An interesting evening featuring a special 90 minute cut (of the four hour Jackie Robinson PBS film)edited by Ted Raviv(son) will be held this Thursday in Park Slope.

After the film, two of the writers and directors of Jackie Robinson-Sarah Burns and Dave McMahon will be interviewed by the prolific writer, Sridhar Pappu. Pappu has a book coming out about the unique 1968 baseball season which was interrupted by the Martin Luther King and Robert F Kennedy assassinations.
The season was played out during the unforgettable 1968 Democratic and Republic Conventions and culminated in the feel good story of the Detroit Tigers winning the World Series, one year after major riots set Detroit on fire.

Perhaps the very "HOT" Trump-Topic--The Central Park Five will come up. Sarah Burns wrote the book, that became the basis of the film(co-directed by Ken Burns, Dave McMahon, and Sarah Burns), The Central Park Five. The book and film detailed the true story of the miscarriage of justice and led to the 5 men receiving financial compensation from NYC for the years they spent in prison. Even though DNA evidence exonerates them and an admission by the actual DNA linked criminal is on the record, Trump claimed this week that the Five are guilty.

Details about location, bios, and film trailer are below.
Hope to see you there.

Best,
Odey
