Hello:

All airlines have already posted major cancellations this week-end for flights up and down the East coast. United has shut down ALL their flights on Saturday. JetBlue is also likely to ground their entire fleet, since New York is their home-base.

Before heading to the airport, check your reservation online at the airline's web site, using your confirmation code. Make sure your email and phone number are in the reservation so that you can be contacted. Even with that info in the reservation, I have seen schedule changes where the passenger wasn't advised.

Getting through to the airlines on the phone is IMPOSSIBLE; don't even try. Sign up for automatic flight status updates either through the airline website or a third party like www.flightstats.com<http://www.flightstats.com>.

All the airlines have posted rebooking policies, with waivers for change fees. Generally, you can't get a refund unless your flight is cancelled.
