Dear Gotham,

Last night's awards and donations had a recurring theme about "our
brother's" keeper which is also in line with Gotham's mantra it's better to
give than receive but what goes around comes around.

As an unexpected recipient of one of the $5000 donations awarded last night
for the American Diabetes Association, and one of the founding members of
the Gotham giving campaign, I never imagined I would be randomly selected.

The fact that the Gotham giving campaign has taken on the life and legacy it
has in the past 8 years remains a rewarding experience that is an honor to
say I seeded. The very first recipient was the Welles Remy Crowther
Foundation,

which for most of us needs no explanation as to why it deserves universal
and spiritual blessings bestowed upon it. To date Gotham giving effort has
raised over $100,000 and it is because of everyone of you and especially
Fred Klein.

Last night from the Red Bandana award to the awarding of donations, the
common theme was that our closet loved ones were what inspired us to do what
we do and we benefit greately in the journey. From a brother who suffered a
motor cycle accident resulting in Ken Granieri being recognized as his hero
to Amparo Connor's multigenerational fight and mine with MS and Diabetes
that has decimated our families resulting in lost brothers, sisters,
parents, and others near and dear incredibly too early and with horrible
suffering in the process. It is what makes Gotham's light grow more
brilliantly.

All three lost our brother's this year and the gifts and honor bestowed
allow us to memorialize them by letting others live better lives from our
collective experiences. It was commented a few times about the fact that I'm
taking a fractured neck and not letting it slow me down.

The reason is that fractures heal. Life tragedies like Ken's brother,
Amparo's brother, and T-bro doesn't. But as sure as I'm standing here, I can
promise you without knowing the other two brothers, that each of them never
gave in, never gave up, and never wanted to be treated like they were
disabled.

Those are the real fights that deserve our efforts no matter how small or
large it may be.

I also truly appreciate the well wishes, prayers, and recommendations to
healers in my unexpected journey. It is uplifting. I am grateful for each
and every one of you and I humbly thank you for the gifts shared, received,
and given.

As for the rest, when life gives you unexpected surprises, remember to
bedazzle. (What happen in the room stays in the room. You had to be there.
:))

Warmest Regards

Ester Horowitz

"Impossible is just a word thrown around by small men

who find it easier to live in the world they've been given

than to explore the power they have to change it.

Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is potential.

Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing."
