I have to add two final words about Tranquillity. I am surprised that no one
mentioned the reasonableness of the cost. Our daughter attended eight full
weeks of sleep away camp at less than  40% of the cost  of six weeks at
other sleep away camps. 

 

And, Tranquillity also taught her the importance of giving back.
Tranquillity offers two  weeks of camp free to children of members of the
armed forces. Not only did our daughter get a great camp experience, at a
price that we could afford, but she learned the valuable lesson of giving
back. Tranquillity was a definite win for our entire family.

 

PS And she thought the food was great too!!

from the demands of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat, you should
seriously consider Tranquillity. I know my daughter  will be forever

Enrollment has begun for the 2016 summer season of Tranquillity Camp. There
will be an open house at the Hilton Hotel at 598 Broad Hollow Road,
Melville, NY 11747, on Sunday November 15, 2015 from 10AM to 4PM. 

 

Located in upstate New York, Tranquillity Camp was founded nearly 100 years
ago on the principle that all deserving children should have an opportunity
to spend their summers in the "country" to grow and develop. Tranquillity
has been an important part of my family for over 50 years. 

 

What's different about Tranquillity is that it is unplugged.  The kids
actually talk to each other!  No cell phones or electronics to distract the
children from learning how to be social and to work in groups or teams,
whether they are participating in theater, sports, or a variety of  outdoor
activities. By working in groups and learning leadership as they grow to be
counselors, they develop skills that serve them well at home and in life as
they grow up.
